I'm moving!

I've decided to take the plunge and move to WordPress! For a while I've been contemplating what I want for the future of my blog, as I want to expand my posting from a fashion focus to more of a lifestyle and fashion focus, and at the same time, begin blogging under my own name, rather than under Curvaceous Chic. Look forward to some surprises in the next couple days!

Friday Fancies (late night dream shopping)

Who doesn't love doing a bit of online fantasy shopping? Definitely not me, I love to dream about the things I would buy with an unlimited budget. Here's what I've fallen in love with this week!

22 before 22

image from weheartit

My birthday was in the beginning of August, and I decided that this year I would make a 22 before 22 list- 22 things I wanted to complete before my 22nd birthday. I finally finalized my list after a long process of picking things that I thought would help me grow as a person, academically, personally, and professionally (and have fun).

- Go vegan for at least 2 months
- Get up early to watch a sunrise
- Get organized!
- Graduate from university with my Bachelor of Arts in English
- Apply for NAIT's diploma in Marketing
- Have a spa day and get a massage
-Volunteer at LitFest
- Take a spin class
- Play punk rock bingo
- Have dinner at Corso 32
- Buy myself a nice bottle of wine
- Complete three creative projects
- Go to Interstellar Rodeo
- Go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show
- Buy a lottery ticket
- Attend one event per month that promotes personal and professional networking opportunities
- Try one new recipe/variation on a recipe at least every second week
- See at least one play by the U of A drama program
- Create an effective budgeting system
- Go to a varsity sports game
- Bake a pie from scratch.

Quick Update

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to put a quick update out there, for those of you who have been wondering where i've disappeared to !

This season I was thrilled to be brought on to the Western Canada Fashion Week team as the Blogger Liaison, where my tasks included organizing our blogger attendees, running the official WCFW blog, sending out material to some of our fabulous sponsors, and filling in other odd tasks. As a result of juggling those tasks with being a full time student, I haven't had a chance to get any coverage up on here yet. I'm hoping to get a summary/highlights post up here sometime this week.

Another thing I'm looking forward to starting is a new series on here- Manners Mondays. I am passionate about etiquette and manners, and it's something I would love to share. Look for that in the upcoming weeks. Also, I will be posting the 22 before 22 list I created for my birthday in August, so you can follow along with my journey throughout the year. It's going to be exciting!

Stanley Carroll- Fall 2012

Last Friday I had the delight of starting of my fashion week experience at the showing of Stanley Carroll's Fall 2012 collection. As usual, it was an extremely wearable and visually interesting collection. I loved the use of plaids and pattern mixing, as well as the diagonals and a-line shapes. My favourite aspect of the collection was the perfect use of ruching on the women's dresses perfectly accentuating all the right curves!

All photos were graciously provided by Kelly Rosborough, and you can see more of his pictures from the event here.

Lately loving- Autumn

image created on polyvore

I'm really excited to be going back to classes tomorrow! I had an amazing time at my job this summer but I am looking forward to my last year of university! I had a bit of money tucked aside for a back-to-class shopping treat this summer, and I had a lot of fun shopping this weekend, and really made an effort to find pieces that were smart additions to my closet. One of the things I bought was my first chambray shirt, in a billowy tunic cut, and it is so comfortable! I'm in love with its year-round versatility. I've been trying to add a lot of classic pieces to my wardrobe that I will be able to dress up or down, and that will be able to make a transition from english major to marketing student, to career girl. I've definitely fallen head over heels for button up blouses!

What are your fall picks?

The Helm

Early for a meeting at one of my favourite local cafes, Credo,  I realized there was a new addition to 104th street. Intrigued by the classically modern vignette in their front window, I adventured in.

The Helm definitely isn't a stuffy menswear shop. Simply oozing style and quality, this store made me wish I could wear their clothes! The selection of suits that have arrived since their opening just over a week ago show a perfect balance of classic cuts perfect for a conservative workplace in fabric choices that allow for individuality. The beginnings of their accessories collection is equally decadent, crisp pocket squares, impeccably rolled ties, and a selection of scarves for the cooler days tells me that the gentlemen behind this store have a perfect realization of their aesthetic, from the designers they have chosen to carry to the design and decoration of their store. They're even putting in an open tailor shop at the back, so you can shop AND see your suit being altered!

I'm excited to see such a beautiful shop opening up in Edmonton, and it will definitely be on the top of my list for any men looking for high-quality, wearable menswear!

You can find them in person at 10125-104 St, or soon, online at thehelmclothing.com.
